Methods are recruiting for a number of User Experience Designers to join our growing Digital Consultancy. The role will be Home based in either London or Midlands and requires up to 80% UK Wide travel to client sites. Travel costs to the sites and Methods HQ in St Pauls is expensable.

The Role:

We are looking for a User Experience Designer with a visual design and rapid prototyping skill set. A strong understanding of accessibility is essential as is some Front End development experience. Working as part of a multidisciplinary Embedded team your job will include research and facilitation, problem-solving (sketching, wireframing, prototyping) and some visual design. You will primarily work within government organisations across all stages of the digital services life cycle (Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live).

As part of a project delivery team, you'll be working together with design, user experience designers, product management, content design and service design to develop solutions based on user needs. Day-to-day you will be responsible for working with that team to design, create and improve new and existing products, platforms and transactions for our clients and internal company projects.

Responsibilities:

Client Assignments:

  • Building prototypes to illustrate solutions and ideas
  • Complete client assignments
  • Understand, interpret and communicate client requirements
  • Provide timely accurate reporting
  • Making sure that user needs are continuously assessed and brought into prototype development
  • Building relationships with clients, and helping them learn new skills through mentoring and shadowing

Technology delivery and development:

  • Building products to serve a variety of needs for our clients and internal company projects
  • Being involved in the wider UX community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences
  • Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team

Account management:

  • Work with Account Manager to develop account, escalating client concerns as/when identified
  • Look for new opportunities and notify Account Manager

Knowledge Leadership:

  • Contribute to company knowledge base
  • Keep up to date with developments in technology and our target sectors.
  • Attend or support conferences/seminars

Professional Development:

  • Identify and develop a relevant subject or skill
  • Provide input into staff reviews
  • Identify areas of personal development and propose solutions
  • Attend team and company meetings

Person specification:

Education:

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience

Experience:

  • Developing, then iterating solutions based on user needs
  • Working with agile methodologies
  • Responsive design

Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within diverse project teams.
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent general IT skills
  • Effective time management of tasks and work load
  • Problem solving eg sketching/wire framing/prototyping/usability testing
  • Building responsive functional prototypes using tools such as invision and axure as well as in code using frameworks such as bootstrap and foundation
  • Team player who can work with others as part of a group to design shared solutions
  • Great persuasive communicator able to influence decision making
  • Able to work with clients to understand business requirements, constraints and underlying needs
  • Solid knowledge of accessibility

Knowledge/understanding:

  • Knowledge of latest developments within technology
  • Understanding of best practices
