The Senior User Researcher will have the ability to bring the tools and methods of user-centered research and design into all stages of application requirements, design, and development. The Senior User Researcher will lead research efforts to support iterative design and development for consumable applications in a range of contexts from waterfall processes to Agile software development methods. The Senior User Researcher will coordinate with interaction designers, project manages and multi-disciplinary teams. The Senior User Researcher will have an advanced understanding of the interplay between business requirements, product strategy, and user experience. The Senior User Researcher must have an advanced capability to use data to argue for improvements to the customer experience. The Senior User Research should also be a leader, adaptable, a fast learner, and be willing to work on a variety projects.

Key Responsibilities:
· Applied user research work (running lab tests, quantitative data analysis, eyetracking, competitive benchmarking, UI reviews) and consultation with various product teams.
· Analyzing business requirements and user requirements and understand the synergies and stress points between them (e.g., Task Analysis, Ethnography, Focus Groups, Surveys, Personas, Scenarios, Use Cases, etc.).
· Working with clients to develop an understanding of the characteristics of the intended user segments as well as the ultimate context of application use.
· Understanding the baseline (e.g., heuristic assessments of competitive solutions or prior solutions).
· Experimental & Inspection Methods (e.g., Cognitive walkthroughs, Think-Aloud Protocols, Remote Usability Testing, etc.) - Design (e.g., Concept Modeling, Rapid Prototyping, Iterative Design, etc.).
· Development (e.g., communicating designs and requirements to developers, evaluating interim software deliveries).
· Mentoring and leadership of Junior Researchers.
· Effectively understand/manage trade-offs between business needs and customer benefit.
· Consolidate quantitative and qualitative research to inform requirements definition, content strategy, wire frames, visual and interaction design.
· Identify opportunities to improve the user experience and better serve business needs using site analytics and independent research.
· Work closely with stakeholders to outline research plans.
· Responsible for running and ensuring quality of user research.
· Manage vendor-based research projects and lead a core strategic research initiative.
· Consolidate research findings, often from multiple sources, into a short, concise, actionable story for stakeholders.
· Establish global standards and processes around user research.
· Familiarity with agile product development processes, including an understanding the nuances across channels, such as web, mobile and social. (ibmica) (WSIHOT25)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years experience in user experience design including wireframes, prototyping and user flows required
  • At least 4 years experience in applying user research methodologies
  • At least 4 years experience in software tools for creating design deliverables: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Visio, Axure, OmniGraffle, Balsamiq, Sketch
  • At least 4 years experience in using a variety of platforms such as Windows, Mobile (iOS and Android), Web and Mac technologies
  • At least 2 years experience in engaging customers through current social media platforms
  • Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
  • English: Intermediate
  • Master's Degree
  • At least 4 years experience in defining information architecture and interaction design for complex software or web applications and/or significant websites
  • At least 4 years experience in defining information architecture, or interaction design for web and mobile application development
